ASCON boss Sascha Schuh sees long-term potential for plastics exports

In November 2012, ASCON Resource Management Holding's Sascha Schuh held a lecture at the internationally renowned conference ChinaReplas2012 in Ningbo. As a member of the plastics recycling association, an organisation under the umbrella of Germany's national association for secondary raw materials and waste disposal (BVSE), he talked about the subject of plastics recycling in Europe, and in particular in Germany. "I was delighted by the invitation to China, which is such an important trade partner for Germany," said Schuh. "ChinaReplas is an incredibly exciting forum and an excellent platform for exchanging information internationally."

Schuh's core message was that recycling and especially the recycling of plastics is not only an important economic factor in times of increasingly scarce resources but also vital for sustainable development. The way forward lies in "our transformation from a waste management society into a circular economy" in order to establish the smart management of material flows. Germany is internationally leading when it comes to achieving this as it already set the course for this development at an early stage and has put the respective legal framework conditions in place. On this basis, it has developed important expertise for technical innovations in the recycling sector.
